I don't remember feeling anything. I suspend my emotions when I'm reading something for the first time, then reflect later when I know the whole story.

hmmmm. I guess it was sort of necessary to have Butler go through all this. Because in that moment, Artemis truly learned what Butler ment to him, and how much the value of his life was, kind of like the closest thing to a friend. And he realized how strong their bond was. Artemis is not Artemis without Butler. When Artemis saw Butler, I think a little kid awoke inside of him and he was like.. Butler can't die. He can't. Sort of like when Minerva saw her dad knocked out. The genii usually keep their feelings undercover, but they do have hearts. And it was so sweet about the "Domovoi" part. "Artemis, call me...Domovoi." Awwwww! Now THOSE are the times that I LOVE Colfer's work! I didn't really have any very very close friends when I read that the first time. But now I know what wanting to stand by somebody no matter what feels like, whenever I read it again I know exactly what they both felt like as Butler was dying. I think that's the reason why I still cry, partly. I've heard of people dying of heartbreak. I think if Artemis wasn't a boy genius and didn't keep Butler alive, that would have happened to him. I know that's what I'd feel like if I lost a friend. Eoin is such a genius! I really admire the way he writes with his heart, not just with his head. That really shows in his writing The boy inside Artemis really showed then. I believe that it was then that Artemis started to gradually change from villian to saviour. I think if Domovoi had died, Artemis would never be the same and neither would the books.

I have to admit that was one of the sader parts of the book but thankfully Eoin didn't draw it out then I would have put the book down and walked away. but thats the good thing about eoins book he doesn't draw out parts of the book to long. Nor does he make the senes to short.

What I really liked about this part is that it shows 2 sides of Artemis in the same scene: The 13-jear old boy and the genius. What I don't understand is that when Holly healed Butler in this book, a bit of kevlar stuck in his chest, which makes him losing condition. But in TLC Butler just "guards Artemis' body".

No, Mr. Colfer didn't forget, it's true that Butler does protect Artemis but not as much, he's leaning toward Juliet Butler, I think.

When I read books, I usually don't react until the end. I let the author take the story in whatever direction they want. I had a feeling when it happened that that wasn't the end of Butler, and I didn't really care that he had aged 15 years because his role in the books didn't really change at all since that happened. So no big deal, in my opinion.

You can tell that Butler changed after TEC, I think. I cried when he got shot. It's probably the most I've cried in an AF book. But I envied Artemis! He got to eat all that cake!!

Haha XD I don't think Artemis liked being stuck in all of that cake while watching Butler get shot... I didn't really cry when Butler got shot... But I don't really show my emotions; I was crying on the inside. Anyways, I knew EC wouldn't get rid of Butler; he's too big a part of the books...

Butler will still be a key part of the book I think even if he is older. But Artemis will no longer have a body guard for evil schemes, which would mean no more evil schemes...What am I saying! Artemis Fowl without evil schemes!! Not going to happen. Anyway, In the interview with Artemis Fowl, he basically said that Butler was his best friend.

Awww! Artemis has a best friend!! *has aquired a warm, fuzzy feeling inside*. Butler and Artemis are awesome. The only bad part about TEC was the fact Butler wasn't there for most of it. But we got to find out more about Juliet, so that was cool.
