FMA stands for "Fullmetal Alchemist." I haven't read much of the manga yet, but the anime was awesome. I highly recommend it. Smiley

FullMetal Alchemist is the only manga I have ever read! I have read the 11th one and i am waiting for the 12th!
Do you know how many FullMetal Alchemist the author is going to write?

Um in terms of volumes, there are already fourteen out here XD. She's written 79 chapters the last time I checked, and I think it was meant to go to 90 chapters.

I agree that the Ouran anime had better artwork than the manga. I'm not saying that I think Hatori's artwork was bad or anything; the anime just improved it. Also, Kaoru and Hikaru are much harder to tell apart in the manga than in the anime. It bugs me a little when I can't tell which of them is which. ><

Has anyone here read "The Dreaming"? It isn't technically "real" manga because it wasn't made in Japan (the creator, I believe, is Australian). It's not something I'd usually read because it's a bit on the creepy side (ghost stories and curses and such), but I still thought it was interesting.

xD  Thanks.  Yours too, but is that Kaoru or Hikaru?  I can't tell in that picture.. ~_~

I've read the first volume of The Dreaming, and I haven't been able to locate the second yet.  It's only two volumes long, isn't it?

Thank you. It's Kaoru. I'm a Kaoru fangirl. Grin
I made it myself (not that I did anything special; I just resized and cut a screenshot, then added the word 'devious' to it). I did it because I love how Kaoru looked in that shot. I just had to make it into an icon. Smiley

Anyways, The Dreaming was originally only supposed to be two volumes, but now there's a third coming out sometime this year. I've only read the first one, though, because I can't find the second one either. I guess it's just hard to find for some reason. Undecided

of ouran? I've read the 2nd one from my library.
by the way, I like Kaoru more than Hikaru too.
But I think I like Tamaki or Kyouya the best. *not sure how to spell his name.*

Actually..Manga doesn't necessarily have to be Japanese made. I'm reading a Manga right now by some guy named Rod Espinosa. It even says Manga on the back. Manga just basically means that the comics are more serious and actually have a real plotline and not just meant for being funny and whatnot.

Oi..my head hurts. I'm practically screaming at the top of my lungs right now at this faggot next to me >_<. He's getting on my freakin' nerves and if he doesn't stop bothering me I'm going to punch him! I hate screaming like the way I am now; it always make my head hurt! Oh well..I'll see you guys in a couple of hours, class has already started. ^^

Oh yeah, that dude's Filipino! Tongue

I don't read manga, but I did grow up watching anime. Some familiar titles from my childhood are:
  • Rurouni Kenshin
  • Time Quest
  • Akazukin ChaCha
  • SuperBoink
  • Dragon Ball Z
  • SailorMoon
  • AstroBoy
  • YuYu Hakusho
  • Flame of Recca
  • Ghostfighter
  • Neon Genesis Evangelion
  • El Hazard
  • Voltes V
  • Daimos
  • Sol Bianca
...and there are many, many more. I basically grew up watching anime, yet Rurouni Kenshin and Sol Biance are definitely favorites. XD

There are of course Americanized or other country versions of manga but it can be said that it originated in Japan. There are actually big differences with American Manga and Japanese Manga which some people consider it not true Manga.

I'm not sure if this counts but in my Nintendo Power Magazine in six of the issues there was this pokemon mystery dungeon manga book.  I enjoyed reading it a lot.

I think the meaning of the word Manga has greatly evolved through the years. Smiley I don't think of it solely as a Japanese comic book anymore... It's more like a style of drawing to me. Cool

I regard manga as more like a style, too xD with the big, shiny, pretty eyes and such...more realistic in a way than some types of cartoons
Also, manga and anime usually try to convey meaningful messages and lessons to the audience, instead of being just mindless entertainment ^^
