Hey folks, I'm an avid reader of all Eoin's artemis books, and a thought just struck me, if, unlike Harry Potter, has Artemis stayed strictly within the realms of the children's reading section of your bookshop? Do any adults read it? Do your older brothers or sisters, or even parents? I'm 24, and a graduate from university, and have all the books. I introduced Artemis to a few of the boys, and they're hooked. I even got the first book from my older brother, who's 31 now. I tried to get in to the signing by Eoin in Eason's Galway, but circumstances conspired me. So, what's the range of readership. Do you read the book at night to your six year old brother? Or does your 20 year old brother steal it from you to read from himself?
Cheers, WP

Of the top of my head, I believe our youngest member is 10 years old, and we also have older fans who are also a fan of the series. I think the thing about Artemis Fowl is that people of all ages can really enjoy the series. The depth of the characters, the crazy adventures we are taken on, and sooo much more make it attractive for the whole family. end of advertisement

I think I was 8 when I read the first book. But I had forgotten about the next book until about when i was 12. Then I reread the first and then became ENTIRELY OBSESSED and read the nest 3 books in the next 3 days. (No sleep.) And now I'm 14, and still rereading them over and over and over and over and over....

IIRC the youngest member I've seen has been 8. And so far the oldest one is ~60 in another AF-site. I think an average reader is ~13-14.

Wow. This is really interesting. I started reading AF when I was 11 or 12. I'm 16 now. My stupid bookstore put it in the 4-8 year-old section, though, so I look like a real big kid when I go to find them XD

How old is the average Artemis reader? Between the age where you start to read, and the age where you can't see anymore.

Well, the first AF book came out in 2001, so I would've been 11 when I started reading, and I'm obviously 17 now. I know we have a 40-year-old member over at AFC.

Cool.
I know some older readers who read it, and especially at book signings, you meet a lot of parents who enjoy reading it to their kids.

I started reading them when I was 12, and now few years later I'm not planning to stop it. And I succeed to get my little brother (who is 13 now) to get hooked also . He started reading them 12 years old too.
