i just reread TEC and realized that when Artemis asks if the equipment he asked for is ready, one of the items mentioned by Butler is a prototype C Cube. This was never used to steal the Cube from Spiro, so could Artemis possibly have put the prototype back on Holly's belt and taken the C Cube for himself?  Shocked

OMG YES.

You my friend are brilliant.
I can't believe I overlooked that!!!!!
That's so cool. That means Artemis still has one of the most dangerous pieces of technology to fairies. But the question remains, will he use it against them?
If that (Artemis takes the real one and puts prototype one back) happened, it would've been mentioned. And LEP would've found the real (or prototype) C Cube while looking for faery-related stuff.
The prototype part could be foreshadowing.Maybe Artemis disguised it as something.
I really don't get how he does it. The best thing I liked about the C Cube was the part 'nestling in blue foam'. Don't ask me why. I have an utter fascination with foam. I also loved the idea of the video tape restoration. I'd scream if that was ever invented!! I have so many old videos that I want to watch DVD quality.
When something is 'nestled on foam' it means the foam is protecting something valuable. It would be truly awesome if the foam was the really valuable thing. Foam is awesome.

Prediction made by me: Yep, like a lot of other people, I believe the C Cube will be included in the next books... Maybe in the sixth book it will be in a museum somewhere in Haven or something, labeled 'This is the device a criminal mastermind Mud Man (named Artemis Fowl) created containing stolen fairy technology last -state the date Artemis made the C Cube. Foaly could figure that out, I bet.-'

I agree that the C Cube could be part of the next book, but I don't know if it'll be part of the main plot.
It could just be an item involved, or a subplot.

Personally, I think the C Cube is some kind of MacGuffin. No one ever really used it, after all, but everyone was chasin' the dang thing.

(See? It's even a box! A cube!)

(After a quick lookaround, here's even a block cipher named after the MacGuffin. Dude.)

What's a MacGuffin?  Is it something resembling the C Cube?

Maybe if you checked out the links, you'd know. Wink

Lol, I have a feeling that everyone I know will start hearing me say 'MacGuffin' quite a lot from now on...

The mysteeerious C Cube. *makes whooshing noises* xD

Well, we did know some of the Cube's capabilities, so it wouldn't be a complete  MacGuffin, would it? I mean, Spiro thought it was a pretty paperweight at first. Cheesy

Yeah, I was thinking that, but with a machine created by Artemis with Foaly's technology, who really  knows what it can do?

On a side note:
I dreamt that I had a Giant Marshmallow MacGuffin Ragamuffin (Whatever the heck that  is... Leave me alone! It was a dream, okay?) and that everyone in the world was trying to steal it from me. I became paranoid and my family kept me in a little white room with a slot for food to be pushed through.

... I have quite the twisted imagination.

You have interesting dreams... But that Giant Marshmallow MacGuffin Ragamuffin sounds good... Grin

Ah, and you're right! We only saw a few of the Cube's capabilities, didn't we? Hmm... *wonders*

It'd be really useful if I had a C Cube.

... Thank you for contributing. That was very useful and insightful. It's sure to spark discussion in a topic that has been dead for three months. ;]

Perhaps you could explain why you think you would find a C Cube useful? Maybe then people would re-start contributing to this topic. =D

did it ever tell us the password to it

I have no idea what the encrypted code is. I believe we need a flash plugin from adobe. I've even studied his disk diaries to get a clue. I have found something interesting though on Wikipedia.org. If you go to Artemis Fowl:the Eternity Code, it says that the europian version of Artemis Fowl shows the words "think fairy, think again". And there are some other secrets about that certain book too. go to Wikipedia.org and find out.
