Anyone who suggests a new artist will have their brain removed through their nose with an imaginary toothpic. WEll, not really, but you can see I don't like the idea of a new artist. The art is beautiful! But Foaly being green scared me....

if thats what you think, then kay (yes, that IS scary) but this is a place to express your own personally opinions and my opinion says that the art coulld be better. if your going to make a graphic novel based on a book/novel, you should at least make sure that all of the major details regarding what a character looks like are correct.

I thought the graphic novel was pretty good, but I'm just abit unhappy about the style of art . Holly looked way too tall, Foaly looked abit too monkey-like and Mulch didn't look like a drawf at all, Juliet was overally skinny (no offence), and they also need to work abit more on the colours, they practically used brown and green for the whole comic and splashed a few bits of colours in different places, but these are just my opinions.

Holly was too tall, yeah.
But she was hot, though. *Gets prepared for the massive storm*
Foaly was weird lookng, I think. He wasn't ugly, but he wasn't exactly how I pictured him, either.
Butler and Artemis looked exactly how I pictured them. That was cool.
Also, at one point in the book, i totally forget when, but Artemis was in the midle of two conflicting light sources. One of his eyes look blue, and the other lokoed hazel. I dunno if that was accidental or purposful, but I thought it was neat.
*EDIT* I found it! On page..eh...it doens' have page counters >.>
But it's on the page when Artemis was talking about being uncomfortable with his scheme because Holly looks so human.

I thought the adaption and all was great, but the illustrations were kinda... UGH. Foaly's green, Butler's head is tiny, Holly is too tall, and Artemis looks like a vampire. Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike the GN, but the art was just... wrong. To me.

Yeah, I agree Foaly's depiction was a little too... shocking. Green, and more horse than human when he's supposed to be a more-or-less balanced mix of both. And yes, Holly is too tall, her hair is a bit too neat/long, Butler looks more Caucasian than Eurasian. And the most serious problem is that Artemis has BROWN eyes when they're supposed to be blue! (Considering how his eye colour is so often mentioned [and eventually changed] in the rest of the books...) The illustrations are fine I suppose. But because it's done in the traditional graphic novel way, it becomes so much more serious when humour is a very important element in the series. (Which is why the 'I don't like lollipops' part got axed, along with all the other jokes...) Maybe AF in manga form instead of GN would do more justice to the humour. But then again, that's a rather scary thought.

I like the graphic novel. I have to admit that I didn't really notice any of the mistakes in the artwork - I found that some of the characters didn't look the way I imagined them, but I find the same problem whem books are made into films. Personally, when I then re-read the books, I find I can still imagine the characters the way I did before, unless I liked the film/graphic novel version better. I like the graphic novel format. My only issue with it is that I don't think people should JUST read the graphic novel because they'd miss a lot, but that has nothing to do with the artwork, really.

I liked the art of the comic. I thought Mulch looked pretty awesome! I didn't picture him like that at all, but that's what makes it all the better.

The graphic novel was a lot less humourous than the book. but at least it stuck to the main storyline.

I quite liked the art, but nobody looked like I'd imagined them to look. Especially Butler- I thought his head was too small and his neck too big. But it wasn't that bad...
