who cares. its still a great book and you have no business joining a web site if your only reason is to diss the maker
I doubt anyone's intention is to "dis" the author. Eoin Colfer has indeed writted a great group of books in the Artemis Foul series. This is only a discussion of perceived inconsistancies, and/or continuity glitches in the story line. In fact you may notice that most comments are defending Eoin having Artemis crack his own knuckles in the first book, and in a later book, note that Spiro's knuckle cracking is somthing he despises. Discussing all aspects of the books is exactly why we joined this web site, it's a good thing.

Heyyy, we all make mistakes, don't we? It wouldn't be very realistic if there wasn't the tiniest of glitches. And about the knuckles, people's opinions change. And the recognition, I once was in a supermarket, I saw a woman with short brown hair and when I shouted 'MUM!', it was definately not my Mum. We are not perfect, mistakes are just human. Mr. Colfer can't change it now.

Well maybe Spiro was doing it more as to make a point. And Artemis did it more as a finger excercise. Anyways it sounds better. It could also be an evil villian thing.

maybe it is an evil villain thing and, since arty was an evil villain in the first book (albeit one that we could sympathize with), he cracked his knuckles, but by the third book, he wasn't so evil anymore, so he didn't like the popping of the knuckles.

Or it's like chewing your nails - a habit that you have to consciously break because you don't like it.

If you look in the first book, on page 30, on line 18, (the second to last line,) it states: "Artemis cracked his knuckles." Now, if you look in the 3rd book, The Eternity Code, and turn to page 15, on the 5th line from the top, it states, "Spiro cracked his knuckles, a habit Artemis detested." Perhaps Artemis changed his mind, or Eoin made a mistake?

While I disagree that you are not allowed to look at the flaws of something that you like, going on a website for people who like EC's books, naming yourself Eoinmadeamistake, and only posting ONCE is really lame.

Exactly. I totally agree. I mean, I'VE found mistakes that he's made, (I can't remember what they were, though...) but that's not my name, is it? x]

Isn't there a thread for this sort of thing, anyway?
You'd think after all the trouble they'd go to to find the messageboard and poast the mistake they could at least get a normal username and take a look around the forums...

Maybe Artemis liked the habbit in the first book and in the eternity code he stopped liking it?

I think in the first book, he could have just had that habit, but detested it. then, in the eternity code, he had stopped that habit, and still detested it THINKIN OUTSIDE THE BOX!!!
