Yeah! The whole room heard it. And it wasn't just, you know, one crack per knuckle. It was... how can I describe it... like Rice Crispies with fingers. Yuck!

We are visionaries.
'Sugar-free chocolate, I hope. Because I get hyper with sugar, and Daddy says God knows I'm already hyper enough without it, but he still loves me.' Mulch glanced at the label. Eighteen percent sugar. 'Yep. Sugar-free. Would you like a square?'

That mistake was when Mulch was being taken prisoner by the Water Sprites in Atlantis and he is licking his ands and slicking back his hair.

Besides, Artemis had a tremendous change in his attitude between the first and the third book, probably he adopted the habit and then he hated... as sandie said, he's a teenager after all

Technilly, the book that had that story was written after the second book. any wh, lets give Eoin Colfer a round of applause for haveing only few mistakes. Don't worry about the little things, just the fantazmical books.

Just keep in mind that the story that you are referring to is a short story. From the Artemis Fowl Files and the Arctic incident. The Arctic Incident(scene in the Beverly Hills loft) was published in 2002 while the short story The Seventh Dwarf was published in the Artemis Fowl Files which was published in 2004. It is a small error, but just keep in mind that Eoin did not write the books in the same order as the events took place, and the short story wasn't planned by the time the second book was written.

Going back to the nuckles thing, we have all seen how Artemis's character has developed though the books. Maybe this is one of those developing things.
I mean, I myself am aware of the fact that I cracked my knuckles sometimes as a kid, yet I hate people cracking their nuckles.
Maybe, from a deep phycological point of view, Artemis detests cracking of nuckles because it is something he himself did, so it is phycological.
ps, I applogise for bad spelling.

Not only that, but most of us tend to do things unconciously when our minds are busy. I frequently despise habits that other people have, only to have it pointed out to me that I do them myself on occasion. (It's especially annoying when you pop your on knuckles or bite your lip, and your friends say "Eww!, I thought you hated when people do that...." The only mistake I felt Eoin made in the first book, was dumbing down the actual Gnomish code/language. First he describes it as being an Egyptian-esque mix of phonetic and pictoral glyphs, then he provides an example that is merely a simple image for letter substitution.
